Otto, not absolute
Most rose oil is an absolute, drawn out with solvents like hexane. This is otto: pure hydrodistillation, only steam and roses. A different process, a different purity, a different oil.
The lab report
Every batch is independently GC-MS tested. This one came back clean: pure Rosa damascena, no adulterants, no solvents, nothing undeclared.
I thought I knew what rose smelled like. I did not. This is something else entirely.
Lena, Berlin
I will make room for the rose one too, every day. My heart needs it.
Edyta, Myszków
I've tried other rose oils. You can just tell this one is different. Nothing fake, nothing added.

There’s rose oil, and then there’s true otto.
From what the world sells as rose oil, down to the one bottle in your hand.

Most rose oil never meets steam.
The petals are soaked in a chemical solvent, most often hexane, which strips everything out of them at once. The result is called an absolute. It’s loud, it’s cheap to make, and it’s what nearly every “rose oil” actually is.

True otto is only steam and petals.
Fresh petals, pure water, a copper still, and patience. The steam passes through the roses and carries the scent over, one drop at a time. No chemicals ever touch the flower. It gives far less oil, which is exactly why almost nobody makes it this way anymore.

And this is the rarest of it.
Otto of Rosa Damascena, the rose the great perfumes were built on. Gathered by hand before dawn on one Omani mountain, while the cool still holds the scent, and distilled by one family the way it has been for a thousand years.
Gathered before dawn
Petals picked from four in the morning, to the still within the hour, before the sun takes the oil.
No solvents
Only steam and roses. Nothing comes between the flower and the bottle.
It opens bright
Citrus at the top, then honeyed rose close to the skin. Not the heavy rose you expect.
The same rose everyone knows. Nothing like the rose you think you know.
Pure Rosa Damascena otto, independently GC-MS tested, batch by batch. No solvents, no adulterants, nothing added.
It was never about feeling more. It’s about not holding yourself so tightly.
One drop, one breath, and something in you lets go.
Today I woke with such lightness, with a big smile. I feel I came back to myself. Tell me, how can this little wonder, Rose Otto, have such power? Beata, Legionowo Verified buyer
How it smells, as it opens.
It unfolds on the skin in three notes, each deeper than the last.

Sweet dewy citrus
The first breath is a surprise. Green, lifted, almost citrus, like a garden the morning after rain, before the sun has warmed it.
It lifts you.
The rose itself
As it warms on the skin, the rose arrives in full. Honeyed, deep, warm rather than sweet. It is the whole of a rose, the way it feels to press your face into the fullest bloom on the bush.
It opens the heart.
Warm earth and wax
The finish stays close and quiet. A soft, waxy warmth with a breath of honey and clove. It stays on the skin for hours, long after you'd think the flower had gone.
It grounds you.Bright at the top, honeyed at the heart, warm at the base.
The rose of the Green Mountain.
High on the terraces of Jabal Akhdar, in Oman, the women gather Rosa Damascena by hand at first light, the way their mothers did. One family distils it, as they have for generations.
I found them, I go back every spring, and I ask for one thing: their best. What reaches you is theirs, carried to your door unchanged. True otto, only steam, no solvents, nothing added.
The mountain is theirs. The hands are theirs. I only carried it to your door.
Too rare
to reach the market.
Most people will never smell true otto. They breathe the absolute and think they know the rose.
Three ways to wear it.
One small bottle, three ways to the heart. Each takes seconds. The quiet it leaves stays for hours.
Inhale, in the palms
One drop in the palms, cupped to the face. Three slow breaths, and the heart opens.
An instant opening.Diffuse, in the room
Three to five drops in the diffuser, and within minutes two thousand roses fill the room.
The room transforms.Anoint, the wrists
Dilute a drop in a teaspoon of carrier oil, apply to the heart, the wrists, or the temples. The tenderness travels with you.
Tenderness that travels. If the bottle thickens or turns solid below about 20°C, that’s the natural rose wax. Warm it in your hands for a minute and it returns to liquid. A sign of purity, not a fault.

Choose what feels right.

Rose and frankincense, kept as a pair.
The two oils the old world prized above gold. Frankincense to clear the mind, rose to soften the heart. Rarely held together, because each alone is already precious.
A drop of frankincense to begin the day clear; a drop of rose to soften the evening.
Before your first drop.
Why did my oil go solid?
Rose otto naturally congeals below 20 degrees Celsius. These are the stearoptenes, the natural rose waxes that only exist in true otto. A sign of purity. Warm the bottle gently in your hands and it returns to liquid within a minute.
Can I apply this to my skin?
Rose otto is one of the gentlest essential oils. For larger areas we still recommend diluting with a carrier oil like jojoba or fractionated coconut. For pulse points, a single drop applied neat is fine. Listen to your skin.
How is this different from rose absolute?
Rose absolute is extracted using chemical solvents like hexane. Rose otto is pure hydrodistillation. No solvents touch the petals. Different process, different purity, a completely different oil.
Is this safe during pregnancy?
We recommend consulting your doctor or midwife before use. Rose otto is traditionally considered gentle, but we advise caution in the first trimester. When in doubt, diffuse rather than apply.
How long will one bottle last?
At one or two drops daily, a 3 ml bottle lasts roughly four to six weeks. A little goes far. You don't pour this one. You take it a drop at a time.
Why is it so expensive?
Two thousand hand-picked roses in every bottle. Gathered before dawn, distilled the same day. It takes about five tonnes of petals to make a single kilogram of oil, so the price isn’t a markup, it’s simply what something this rare costs.

To say it is wonderful is to say nothing at all
This rose oil… to say it is wonderful is to say nothing at all. I expected something beautiful and received something exquisite. It smells as if I were standing among rose bushes warmed by the sun. Delicate yet strong, fresh yet with a depth that pulls you in. A miracle of nature. I close my eyes and I am so happy.
It is wonderful
I bought a sample recently and have been using it under my eyes. It is wonderful!
Honestly, I could eat it
The rose one, honestly, I could eat it. Seriously. I once had a preserve made of wild rose petals, delicious, and this oil brings it right back. It is beautiful. I will make room for it every day. My heart needs it.
Something in me softened
Hard week, sat on the edge of the bed and put a drop on. I can't tell you what happened exactly, only that something softened and I could breathe again. I've kept it by the bed ever since.
Real and noble, they have a soul
I have worked with plant medicine in Poland and in Peru, and these scents connect inside me with that medicine and work wonderfully. When our older dog died, I ran straight to the rose. It helped me cry, and it wrapped softly around me. Your oils are real and noble, they have a soul.
The sample sold me
I nearly didn't order because of the price, so I got the little 0.5 ml first just to see. Two days later I was back ordering the full bottle. That small vial was enough to know. You can't really argue with your own nose.
The wax was the proof for me
Mine arrived a little cloudy and part of it had gone solid in the cold post. I panicked for a second, then read that this happens with real otto and it's a sign there's nothing else in it. Warmed the bottle in my hands and it cleared. That small thing made me trust it completely.

That first cloudy moment worries many people, so thank you for writing it. The wax is the rose's own. Only a true otto carries it, and it will always melt back in your hands.
A connoisseur's note, and a fair one
I've kept Bulgarian otto and a good Taif absolute for years, so I came in ready to be unimpressed. This holds its own. The absolute is louder, but this is cleaner and truer, the way a proper distillation should be. It reads as steam and roses, nothing hiding underneath.
Not what you think rose smells like
I thought I knew what rose smelled like. I did not. This is something else entirely. So beautiful I keep opening the bottle just to smell it. My flatmate walked in and asked what it was.
It smells like sun-warmed roses
This rose oil, to say it is wonderful is to say nothing at all. I expected something beautiful and received something exquisite. It smells as if I were standing among rose bushes warmed by the sun. Through it I have my own magical garden amid the concrete and asphalt. I close my eyes and I am so happy.
It opens bright, and that surprised me
I was braced for that heavy old rose. It isn't that at all. The first thing you get is almost citrus, something lifted and fresh, and then it settles into a warm honeyed rose right against the skin. It kept changing for an hour on my wrist, and by evening it was a quiet warmth, almost like wax, and I kept lifting my wrist to find it. My husband asked twice what I was wearing. I've never smelled a rose do that.
Bought for my mum, now I need my own
Bought it for my mum. She rang me in tears. Ordering one for myself.
My evening finally has an off switch
One drop on the back of my hands, sit for a minute before bed, breathe it in. That's the whole thing. Somehow it tells my head the day is over. I didn't buy it expecting a ritual and now I'd feel odd without it.
I wear it as my perfume now
One drop on each wrist and I don't reach for anything else. It's quiet, it stays close, and people lean in rather than smell it across the room. Two friends have asked what I'm wearing and both went a bit quiet when I said it was just rose oil.
A real garden, not a candle
Most rose things smell like an idea of rose. This smells like the actual flower, warm from the sun, with a little earth behind it. I keep going back for another breath. My grandmother grew roses and this took me straight to her garden.
The sweetness of a mystical kiss
The sweetness of a mystical kiss. It touches gently, like a rose in bloom, a quiet promise of tenderness. It offers peace, warmth, solace. It draws you closer, closes your eyelids, and wraps you in trust. The essence of love.
Wish the bottle were bigger
No complaints about the oil, it's stunning. My only wish is that they made a larger size. I know a drop lasts and I know why it's small, but I love it enough that I'd happily buy double. Started rationing it, which is silly of me.

It moves me that you'd like more of it. The bottle is small because the mountain gives so little each spring, and I'd rather it be true than big. And you never need to ration it. A drop is enough.
You can smell that nothing was added
I've smelled plenty of rose absolutes and they can feel a bit flat and sweet. This one moves. It opens fresh, turns honeyed, and there's a faint green earthiness at the end. That range is what tells you it's the real distillation and not a solvent thing.
The sample settled it, then I gifted three
Ordered the little vial to test, fell for it, bought the full size, then ended up sending three as gifts. Every person messaged me after. My sister said she cried, which she'll deny if you ask her.
I don't usually do this sort of thing
I'm not really a scented-oils person and I rolled my eyes a little ordering it. Then I sat with it one evening and got quiet in a way I wasn't expecting. I've stopped explaining it to people. Some things you just keep on the shelf and reach for.
I know good attar. This is the real thing
Living here you get used to strong perfume oils, and a lot of it is dressed up. This is honest. A single drop, close to the skin, and it lasts the whole evening without shouting. My mother, who is very hard to impress with scent, asked me to order her one.
We share it before sleep
We started putting a drop on before bed, one each, and it's become the last thing we do. The day goes quiet. I didn't expect a small bottle of oil to change how our evenings end, but here we are.
I hold space for others, and this is what I reach for
I teach small yoga classes and I've started opening one drop into my hands at the start, then letting everyone breathe. The room changes. People ask about it every single time. I'm careful about what I bring into that space and this earned its place quickly.
So pure it feels unreal
I've tried other rose oils. You can just tell this one is different. Nothing fake, nothing added. The most beautiful thing I own and it's a tiny bottle.
Finally, a rose that isn't a cliché
I'd almost given up on rose, everything I tried smelled like soap or an old drawer. This is alive, bright at the top and deep underneath, and it stays close and warm. It took one evening to change my mind completely.
The velvet box made me stop before I opened it
The whole thing arrives so carefully. The little box, the weight of the glass. I sat with it a moment before I even opened it, which isn't like me. Then the scent, and I understood the care. It feels made by hand, not shipped by a machine.

Worth it
Hesitated a week over the price. Each bottle is thousands of hand-picked roses apparently. One drop lasts hours. Three weeks in and it still looks full. I've spent more on candles that did nothing.
Pricey, but I understand why
I won't pretend it's cheap, it made me pause. But once you read what goes into a single bottle and feel how little you need, it lands differently. I've bought perfumes twice the price with none of this feeling.
A truly wonderful scent
I tried them and I'm keeping the oil. The quality is clearly very high. The oil itself reminds me of a journey to Jerusalem. A truly wonderful scent.
Even suits a man
I like floral scents, and my wife said that even though I'm a man, the Rose Otto suits me. She's right. It does.
Learn the one-drop lesson early
My first evening I used three drops, force of habit from other oils, and it was far too much. This one wants a single drop. It warms up on the skin and quietly fills the space around you for hours. Once I understood that, the small bottle started to make sense.
