Three resins. Three moods. One fire.

Three gifts: gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Hojari to ground. Amber to warm the room. Sacred Myrrh, the oldest scent in the book. Sixty grams of each, with the burner, the tongs and the coal. Nothing is ground, cut or perfumed.

Citrus and pine from the Hojari, honey from the Amber, and the cool bitter smoke of Myrrh underneath.

The Three Kings, one box The burner, the tongs and the mica stay with you for good. After this you only buy resin.

I burn a little before a massage so the room is ready when someone lies down. Two or three clients have asked where I get it, and now they order it for their own homes. It settles the space in a way my old sticks never managed.

Before you buyquick answers
I've never burned resin. Will I get this wrong?

Probably once. Almost everyone does, and it is nearly always the same thing: too much resin at once, which only means more smoke than you wanted. Light the coal at its edge and wait until it greys over. Then one tear, and sit down. The card in the box says it in four lines if you forget.

Is it too strong for a small flat?

Not if you use the mica. Laid over the coal it warms the resin instead of burning it, so you get the scent with almost no smoke. One tear is genuinely all a small room needs. It holds for an hour or two, then it lets go.

What if I simply don't like the smell?

Then it is not for you, and that is a real answer. Write to me within thirty days, send back what you have not used, and I refund it. You do not have to explain yourself. I would rather you had one honest evening with it than a box you feel you ought to keep.

Where does it ship from?

From Olsztyn in Poland, and it leaves the next working day. Poland and Germany in one or two days, the rest of the EU in two to four, the UK in four to seven. Checkout shows the delivery cost before you pay. Outside the EU, any import charges are collected by the courier on delivery.

Is Boswellia sacra being over-harvested?

In places, yes. Overtapped by some, ignored by most. A tree cut too often stops giving good resin, and in the end stops giving any. We buy straight from the families who tap the trees in Dhofar, with nobody in between, and every lot carries its number, so a box can be traced back to where it came from. I cannot show you a certificate for that. I can tell you I have stood under those trees.

The ritual

Simpler than it looks.

Four short films, no sound, looping where they sit. Light the coal, set it down, lay the mica on. Then the part that is not a step.

  1. 2 minutes

    Light the coal

Hold it in the tongs, touch it to a flame. It catches and sparks across in seconds.

    Ready when it greys over

  2. 3 minutes

    Set it in the burner

Lower it in and wait. Two or three minutes, until the sparking stops and a pale ash forms.

No smoke yet, this is the pause

  3. 1 minute

    Lay the mica on

Then one tear on the plate, whichever of the three the evening asks for. The resin melts instead of burning. Barely any smoke, and no bitter edge.

It melts, it does not burn

  4. 30 minutes

    Sit down

It holds the room for about half an hour. That part is not a step, it is the reason. Breathe, and give yourself to whatever draws you closer to yourself. This scent has been the background to moments like that for as long as there have been people. Now it is inviting you.

The maker

I grew up in the smoke, before I knew what it was.

In Oman, when a baby is born, they fill the room with frankincense. I was born in Salalah, wrapped in that smoke, and for years I did not realise what I had been given.

A decade later I came home, and the stillness did not come with me. Same practice, same intention, and the walls would not hold it. What held it was the smoke I was born into and had never once looked at.

I didn't start Sacrasoul. I returned to it.

Now I sort this resin by hand with the harvesters in Dhofar, and this is the box I would give someone who already knows this is not a phase.

The questions

Before you choose a resin.

Which one do I burn tonight?

However the evening feels. Hojari is the grounding one, clean and quiet. Amber is warmer and sweeter, made for long low-lit nights. Myrrh is the old one, darker and drier, the one people reach for when they want the room to go still. Burn them side by side once and you will never mix them up.

How long does it last?

Thirty discs of coal, and three resins that will outlast them. The coal is what you replace. How long that lasts is yours to set — we would rather count what is in the box than guess at your evenings.

What does it actually smell like?

Nothing like heavy church incense. The Hojari is bright and clean — lemon and pine as it catches, balsamic earth as it settles. The Amber is a quiet sweetness underneath it. The Myrrh is darker and drier, closer to old wood than to anything sweet.

Is it safe around children and animals?

The coal stays lit for about half an hour and the burner gets hot, so it wants a heatproof surface and a place children and animals cannot reach. Never leave it burning in an empty room, and open a window a little while it does.

Is this a good gift?

Three resins means whoever opens it gets to have a favourite. It arrives complete and ready to light, and the card inside teaches the ritual, so there is nothing to explain and nothing else to buy.

What is the difference between The Three Kings and the Alchemist?

The Three Kings is three resins at 60 g each — the whole evening to choose from. The Alchemist adds two more, the rare green Sultan's Jade and Socotran Dragon's Blood, and raises the Hojari and Amber to 90 g each. If you want the choice, stay here. If you want all of it, go there.

What happens when it runs out?

Only the resin and the coal run out. The burner, the tongs and the mica stay with you for good. Charcoal is £5 a roll when you need more, and less by the pack.

I am using it now, and there is magic in it. I believe memories are bound to scent. Yesterday was another anniversary of a birth, in a different scent, and there is something in it that touches the thoughts, something you feel deep inside yourself. Thank you from my heart.

It is truly wonderful, and I love my frankincense. It is with me and gives me strength every day. Both are exceptional, both strong. I will keep coming back for the next one.

Every day our home is wrapped in the scent of the resins I burn from you. They are beautifully packaged, and I read everything you included with real curiosity. I recommend them to everyone, gladly.

By evening my head is still full of the whole day. I light a little of the Hojari, and by the time it has burned through I have gone quiet too. It has become the one hour that is only mine. The green one is what I reach for most.

I like that there are three, so I am not stuck with one scent every night. Some evenings I want the bright green one, some the dragon's blood, when I feel like I need both feet on the floor. I did not expect to use them so differently.

I have bought frankincense from a lot of places, and most of it is tired or stretched with something cheaper. This is real Boswellia sacra, the amber is properly aged rather than cut, and the dragon's blood is actually Socotran. My nose can tell, and it isn't fooled here.

It is a beautiful thing to sit with. Three little bags, the burner, the tongs, and the small ceremony of deciding which resin the evening wants. I lay a few pieces out, light the coal, and the whole ritual feels made by hand rather than bought.

The Hojari and the amber I burn through almost too fast, they are that good. The dragon's blood took me a few evenings to love, it is deeper and almost medicinal at first. Four stars only because I wish the amber bag were bigger, it is the one I always reach for.

First two tries I scorched the resin and it smelled burnt, my own fault, I was impatient. Once I let the coal go white it was a different thing completely. The amber is my favourite of the three. Four stars because the learning curve is real.
