It chars before I smell anything.

Myrrh's tears are harder than frankincense. Too much direct heat burns them before they release. Lay a mica plate over the greyed coal and let it warm slowly — that is the whole trick.

Is it too strong for a small flat?

Not if you use the mica. Laid over the coal it warms the resin instead of burning it, so you get the scent with almost no smoke. One tear is genuinely all a small room needs. It holds for an hour or two, then it lets go.

How much do I need for one evening?

One tear. Two if the room is large. Almost everyone reaches for a handful the first time and opens a window five minutes later. Start with one, wait, and add another only if you want more.

Is wild myrrh being over-harvested?

The tree grows wild on the island of Socotra. Nobody plants it and nobody farms it, so the harvest is limited by how far a person can walk and how much they can carry back. We buy from the people who do that walking, and we buy small. I cannot show you a certificate for it. I can tell you the quantity is small because the collecting is.

Where does it ship from, and what will I pay at the door?

From Olsztyn in Poland, and it leaves the next working day. Poland and Germany in one or two days, the rest of the EU in two to four, the UK in four to seven. Checkout shows the delivery cost before you pay. Outside the EU, any import charges are collected by the courier on delivery.
